Axel Witsel prove that the Chinese League is Not Bad

Axel Witsel wants to show that his quality is not forgotten, even though he is currently playing outside Asia, precisely in the Chinese Super League

Axel Witsel has claimed his coach at Quanjian Fabio Cannavaro has refused Carlo Ancelotti’s request to discuss a potential move for the Belgian international to Bayern Munich.

Axel Witsel caused a storm of criticism in January as he chose to choose a transfer from Zenit to Juventus to get the big payoff offered in the Chinese Super League.

But Witsel insists that playing in Asia does not make his quality in the forget, with interest from Bayern proving that his quality is still appreciated in Europe.

“Everyone thinks that coming here, I [will] be forgotten,” he told Le Vif.

“I will give an example, this is exclusive … Two weeks ago, Carlo Ancelotti called on coach Fabio Cannavaro and asked if he could contact me.”

“He wants me at Bayern, this is proof that you are not forgotten in high-level European football on the pretext that you are playing in China.”

“But Cannavaro replied to Ancelotti that he needed me, I must take this into account, he also brought me here.”

Axel Witsel’s ambitions are questioned when he decides not to move to Serie A giants Juve and it remains to be seen whether the 28-year-old will prove his great ambition to play in Germany.

“If he [Cannavaro] gave me the green light to negotiate? Bayern is Bayern … I can go to Juventus, but Bayern is still a bit above it, “added Witsel.

“In short, just to say they did not forget me.”
